GRD House

The house is located on a plot with a steep slope in front of the Cala de la Granadella, Jávea, one of the most beautiful and important natural landscapes of the Costa Blanca.

Pedestrian and road access to the house are on the first floor. Crossing the entrance door, a double height volume frames stunning views of the sea and the Granadella Natural Park, offering the visitor a first contact with the environment. Throughout the house, spaces have been created in order to contemplate the privileged views, both from each of the interior rooms and from their exterior spaces.

The house offers two opposing façades. The entrance façade is hermetic and limits visibility from the street, while the south façade is permeable and transparent. The walls and planes of white concrete are closed by means of large glass panes that are protected thanks to cantilevers, porches and pergolas of large dimensions.

The white concrete volumes that make up the house rest on a base formed by dry masonry walls that serve as a transition with the land. Next to the base there are several terraces for the cultivation of native species such as carob, olive and pine trees, also made out of dry masonry walls typical of the orography of the area.
