Horizontality and Weightlessness Over Moraira’s Portet Bay

The project is located on a plot with a complex geometry in one of Moraira’s finest residential areas, El Portet. Perched atop a hill, the site offers panoramic views, framed by the Montgó massif to the north and the famous Portet Bay to the south.

To make the most of this unique location, the house is designed as a horizontal volume, orienting the views from different rooms toward the most striking visuals on the plot, creating distinctive spaces on each facade.

The design concept adapts to the plot’s geometry by elevating the day area, including the terrace and pool, to the upper level. This takes advantage of the southern orientation, aligning with the best views of the Mediterranean Sea.

The front terrace is made up of a large platform, capped by an infinity pool that overlooks the bay. The terrace is sheltered by an extensive overhang, an extension of the house’s roof, creating a sensation of weightlessness that emanates from the bold horizontality of the structure. The northern elevation, where both vehicular and pedestrian access are located, features a terrace that opens onto a garden filled with typical Mediterranean vegetation—pine, citrus, and olive trees—with the Montgó as a scenic backdrop.
