Architecture and design in dialogue · Roche Bobois at CTZ2 House

Architecture and design operate at different scales, but share the same ability to transform the way we perceive and inhabit a space. When both come together through a shared vision, furniture ceases to be an isolated object and architecture ceases to function merely as a backdrop.

This relationship is precisely the starting point of Visite Privée, Roche Bobois’ editorial series presenting the brand’s pieces within specially selected architectural spaces. The brand defines these encounters through the dialogue between volumes, lines, materials and light, seeking places where design can resonate with the architecture that hosts it.

For two of these editions, Roche Bobois selected CTZ2 House, the residence designed by Pepe Giner Arquitectos overlooking Portitxol Bay in Jávea. The house thus becomes part of an international selection of architectural spaces used by the brand to present some of its most representative pieces.

The choice of CTZ2 House is consistent with the logic of the project itself. The residence adapts to a steeply sloping plot through a sequence of horizontal platforms that shift and open towards the Mediterranean. Terraces, glass, vegetation, the pool and the horizon create a spatial sequence in which the furniture can be observed both in relation to the architecture and to the landscape.

In Roche Bobois’ images and videos, the pieces do not simply appear placed inside a house. The framing incorporates Mediterranean light, views of the coastline and the lines of CTZ2 House as part of the product presentation. Architecture and furniture jointly construct the atmosphere.

This way of presenting design forms part of a broader strategy by Roche Bobois. Within Visite Privée, the brand has selected works and spaces by architects from different generations and backgrounds, using architecture as an active part of its visual narrative. CTZ2 House thus becomes part of a series in which design and architecture observe one another.

The project also appears in Roche Bobois’ international editorial materials and catalogues, alongside architects and studios such as Aires Mateus, Enric Ruiz Geli, Langarita–Navarro, SelgasCano and Ramón Esteve, among others. This presence places the residence within a selection of contemporary spaces chosen by the brand for their ability to build a distinctive visual identity.

For CTZ2 House, this collaboration offers a new way of looking at the residence. Following its exposure in specialised media and its use as an audiovisual setting, the project now finds a new dimension connected to furniture design.
