A lookout over the blue waters of the Mediterranean in J\u00e1vea<\/p>\n
The house is located on a steeply sloping plot descending towards the southeast, facing the Portitxol Bay in J\u00e1vea. A privileged site of great beauty, bordered to the north by Portitxol Island and to the south by the Punta del Cap Negre viewpoint.<\/p>\n
The project is based on adapting to the geometry of the plot and raising the living area, with the terrace and swimming pool positioned at the same upper level. This arrangement makes the most of the southern orientation, which coincides with the best views towards the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n
The volume of the project responds to the orientation, geometry and slope of the plot. The rugged topography means that what initially appears to be a disadvantage ultimately becomes a decisive factor in shaping the architectural morphology of the project.<\/p>\n
The house is conceived as a series of sinuous platforms that slide into one another, adapting to the steep terrain through a stepped configuration that follows the natural slope of the site.<\/p>\n
The southeast fa\u00e7ade is defined by the horizontality and free-flowing cantilevers of these platforms which, set against the privileged landscape, appear to levitate weightlessly.<\/p>\n
On each level, terraces continuously surround the glazed envelope, blurring the boundaries between the interior and exterior spaces. On the ground floor, the platform widens at its centre to create a large terrace and narrows towards the ends, adapting to the conditions of the surroundings. The terrace detaches itself from its immediate environment to visually merge with the horizon, dissolving its boundaries through a sinuous swimming pool.<\/p>\n
The terrace also incorporates a Mediterranean garden conceived as an extension of the architecture of the house. Cypress trees are treated as architectural elements in their own right and positioned so that they pass through the openings in the platforms, emphasising the horizontality of the house.<\/p>\n
The structure supporting the horizontal elements is resolved through dry-stone masonry walls, which anchor and retain the terrain, combined with slender steel columns. This duality of structural elements contrasts with the strong horizontality of the platforms.<\/p>\n
The upper floor contains the entrance hall and three bedrooms, each with its own terrace, opening out as a lookout towards the sea. The entrance to the house is positioned alongside a double-height space containing the vertical circulation core. The sculptural staircase in Black Marquina marble articulates the space and becomes highly visible from many points throughout the house.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
